Rhino Shield Superior to Paint in Every Way

leave a comment »

If you’ve had neighbors or friends purchase Rhino Shield® in the past, they probably told you it works just like ordinary paint products. While it’s a useful and familiar comparison that people can make, Rhino Shield®  is actually far and away a better choice for your home’s siding than paint.

There are several factors that separate Rhino Shield® ceramic coating products from paint. Here’s some of the characteristics that really set it apart:

  • Traditional paint contains over 60 percent water. Rhino Shield contains over 80 percent solids, which is why the ceramic coatings last as long as they do.
  • Paint uses fillers such as chalk, which can’t hold up against the environment. Rhino Shield uses ceramic micro-spheres that are so tightly packed they can withstand even the toughest of the elements.
  • Rhino Shield dries approximately eight to ten times thicker than traditional paint. This means Rhino Shield is able to give your home added protection and insulation that traditional paint simply cannot.
  • Rhino Shield also contains an EPA-certified 3 part mold, mildew and algae additive. This feature prevents the growth of unwanted microbes.

Knowing all the advantages Rhino Shield has over ordinary paint, why would you choose anything else? Contact Rhino Shield today to even more about this amazing home improvement product and how you can bring it to your home today!

Built to last and composed from millions of tiny ceramic microspheres, Rhino Shield Protective Finish Coat (PFC) lives up to its namesake and more.

PFC is our most breathable elastomeric ceramic coating, meaning it allows natural water vapors to escape, thus preventing coating cracking and peeling.  Rhino Shield PFC also expands and contracts with the movements of your home or building.  These benefits are maintained while still offering superior insulation and solar reflective benefits which could save on the cost to heat and cool your home.  When applied over Rhino Shield Self Priming Coat (SPC), the system is ideal for harsh climates and wooden homes

What Does Rhino Shield Look Like?

While the benefits of a Rhino Shield installation are drastically different than those offered by traditional exterior paint, the outward appearances of both are almost identical.  Like latex-based paint, Rhino Shield conserves the appearance of your substrate after application-whether your surface is wood, stucco, HardiePlank®, brick or metal.  Rhino Shield also has the ability to mimic all of the colors of traditional paint, all without the appearance of looking rubbery, overly thick, or synthetic.

Rhino Shield differs from paint due to its thick application and product ingredients.  Comprised mostly of solids rather than water, Rhino Shield dries eight to ten times thicker than paint. Our proprietary ingredients offer greater protection and insulation benefits than the traditional competitor as well.

Rhino Shield Transforms Historical Homes

leave a comment »

Using Rhino Shield is the perfect way to restore and rejuvenate older historical homes.

The benefits of Rhino Shield’s ceramic coating systems are numerous.  Our product may be applied not just solely to residential homes, but commercial and government buildings as well.

Rhino Shield installations are perfectly suited to restoring historical homes and buildings.  One of Rhino Shield’s outstanding features is its breathability.  In addition to our coatings being extremely durable and strong, Rhino Shield products, in particular Rhino Shield Protective Finish Coat, registers high on the breathability index.  Meaning, our ceramic elastomeric coatings allows water vapors and moisture to escape.  Historical homes traditionally do not have wall insulation or modern vapor barriers.  Rhino Shield provides both insulation and breathability.

Lead paint may be hazardous to work with when restoring a historical structure and must be dealt with properly.  Most Rhino Shield dealers are EPA lead certified and meet rigid standards for removing this harmful substance.  When existing paint is in good condition many government organizations recommend encapsulating the paint, rather than removing it.  The mil thickness of Rhino Shield generally exceeds the requirement for an encapsulation product; however requirements to do so are projected at a local and state level.

Take a peek at some of these homes with Rhino Shield applied to them.  You’ll see the difference coating can make.  It’s what we call the Rhino Shield difference!

Cumulative Cost of Rhino Shield vs. Traditional Latex Paint

leave a comment »

Painting your home is not an easy or inexpensive process. When you factor in things such as maintenance, energy and time, repainting becomes an even larger inconvenience.  While the cost of Rhino Shield may be more expensive than traditional paint initially, our long lasting system saves money over time by eliminating the freqent repainting cycle.

It’s no secret that traditional latex paint cracks, chips and peels. Rhino Shield applications are guaranteed; our products have been BASF tested to last twenty-five years.  Our applications are backed with a written, transferable, non-prorated warranty.  This maintenance-free coating offers additional benefits paired with its long life span.  Rhino Shield’s systems offer superior mold and mildew resistance and a high solar reflectivity index that works to  lower surface temperature by thirty degrees, saving on heating and cooling costs.  Rhino Shield’s high build, acrylic-urethane-elastomeric formula waterproofs, insulates, and soundproofs. Overtime, Rhino Shield will save you time and money compared to traditional latex paint, proving to be a valuable and long term investment to protect your properties.

Rhino Shield's Solar Reflectance Saving Homeowners Money

leave a comment »

Did you know that Rhino Shield can lower your home’s temperature by 30 degrees? The ceramic microspheres in Rhino Shield’s coating provide high solar reflectivity that blocks sunlight and infrared light. The exterior walls of your home receive less heat transfer and wall surface temperature will be lowered. You may receive energy saving benefits that will lower your monthly bill.

There was a study completed on our product that measures the thermo conductivity of the ceramic spheres found in Rhino Shield versus CaCo3, the primary solid in traditional paint. The CaCo3 was found unsuccessful against blocking heat transfer and was highly thermo conductive. The ceramic spheres were proven to reduce thermal conductivity and insulate the building.

Ceramic microspheres and titanium dioxide are paired with our 100% acrylic elastomeric resins to create a product that not only provides thermal insulating, but repels water and gives you a finish that is more durable than any other coating.
